THE NUCLEAR WAR ON IRAQ: TEDD WEYMAN

TEDD WEYMAN: THE NUCLEAR WAR ON IRAQ Deputy Director of the Uranium Medical Research Centre, working with Dr. Asaf Durakovic, Tedd Weyman organized and led field studies in Afghanistan and Iraq to measure and analyse uranium contamination of radiotoxic and chemotoxic heavy metals ('depleted uranium,' etc.) from battlefield weapons. The use of uranium in non fissile-penetrating weapons and bunker busters are effectively nuclear weapons, Weyman reports. It is known world wide, he says, that DU weapons have long-term implications that, right now corporations and governments are hiding. But Weyman cautions, "If you don't have a moral objection [to using DU on another nation], you might have a pragmatic objection which might be the liabilities that a nation faces for permanently contaminating another nation's environment...Uranium contamination in Iraq will last for millions of years. So the liabilities are very significant when you have every nation that was on the receiving end and every soldier on the sending end is contaminated." Weyman spoke in Rochester, June 26, 2005 at an event hosted by a coalition of Rochester peace groups. Special thanks to Jim Barlow. (part 1: interview 22 min.)

Subject: Lies Piled Upon Lies
Ted Weymann pretends to be some sort of expert instead of being all around flunky for Asaf Durakovic and his sham Uranium Medical Research Centre that operates out of a farmhouse that tax records show belong to a church that Durakovic started and that Weymann is a board member of. The photo at the top of this page has nothing to do with depleted uranium beyond having been so claimed by Saddam Hussein's propaganda. It is of a child being treated for hydrocephalus, a condition that affects hundreds of thousands of children around the world and is very treatable. Assuming this child did not get killed by sectarian violence, they are still alive and well and about 20 years old in Iraq.
The Snowshoe Films person has a very vivid imagination, but this is supposed to be a factual documentary, not lies piled upon lies or bad science fiction. None of what he writes is true.
the following is basically gibberish arranged in sentences
DU is a fine ingredient for many things until it is fragmented by any type of impact that fragments the metal. DU is used for kinetic energy penetrators and added armor for tanks.
Fragments multiply the radiation effects, especially if it is impacted by an explosive.
This is pure nonsense. A kilogram of DU oxide dust will provide the same radiation as a kilogram of DU oxide in solid form. A DU penetrator, though, is depleted uranium alloyed with titanium and not DU oxide. DU oxide, then has added oxygen atoms and those are not radioactive so in reality, DU oxide is less radioactive than DU.
DU in its semi-inert form outside the body has radiation that bounces off the skin, once the fragments are injested in any form the radiation readily goes through mucas membranes and destroys the reproductive repair process of the rna/dna creating a breakdown which causes, among other things, at the very least a huge increase in cancer.
This sounds real scientific and it is pure mumbo jumbo - there is no passing through mucuous membranes nor destruction of dna/rna repair process. Snowshoe must think that they get paid by the word with extra credit for bigger words. That is not science!
Gulf War syndrome is partly caused by this effect and will not go away until this substance is outlawed.
Gulf War Syndrome, now termed Gulf War Illness, has been found to have nothing to do with depleted uranium.
Fragmented DU also goes through the placenta and can be passed from male to female through sexual contact thus infecting women here in America and newborns..
DU-oxide is not soluble in water and it does not pass through the placenta to the fetus or from male to female through sexual contact. This is more imaginative bad science fiction, not documentary or science.
not to mention those in the middle east facing this problem.. unbelievably it is rumored that Isreal is using this type of munition on Palistinains making the entire middle east a nuclear wastland in the future, with a half life of billions of years, we will be dealing with this for a loong time!
One of Snowshoe's clients, Douglas Lind Rokke, falsely claims that Israel has used DU when in fact it has not. The UN Environment Programme Post Conflict Branch did extensive field research in Lebanon that included detailed examination and sampling of each of 32 sites where DU was claimed to have been used and found none. http://postconflict.unep.ch/publications/UNEP_Lebanon.pdf

I thought it was interesting that the reviewer called techguy on feb 2 cited the site http://www.sandia.gov/news-center/news-releases/2005/def-nonprolif-sec/snl-dusand.pdf as evidence for the safety of DU. As they say in their header "Sandia-A Lockheed Martin Company".
L-M is the world's largest arms exporting company. It has sold more than 3000 F-16 combat aircraft around the world. The company also makes the Hellfire missile, "bunker buster" munitions and the
massive C-130 transport plane.
Developing Weapons of Mass Destruction L-M produces land mines, which kill indiscriminately. It produces weapons made with depleted uranium (DU), which contaminates the soil and the entire food chain. DU is linked to the "Persian Gulf Syndrome" which killed thousands of U.S. veterans, and thousands more Iraqis, after the first Gulf war.
This corporation has an integral role in the US Space Command’s plans to wage war in space. L-M produces laser weapons, satellite surveillance equipment, and many components of the Missile Defense (“Star Wars”) system.
Lockheed Martin carries on with the nation’s only Intercontinental Ballistic Missile program. It builds Trident II nuclear missiles, for use on Trident II Submarines
As of 2004, the radiation from DU used in Iraq was equivalent to the fallout of 250,000 Nagasaki bombs!
Lockheed Martin plays a part in this genocide by supplying the United States and other aggressive nations with the equipment needed to deliver Depleted Uranium munitions and other weapons used against civilian populations. In other words, Lockheed Martin profits off of the misery that war is inflicting on people around the world.
Lockheed Martin reported 2005 sales of $37.2 billion and pretax profits of nearly $3 billion. Robert J. Stevens, Lockheed Martins' CEO, received nearly $16 million in compensation in 2006.
Twenty-eight former L-M executives are members of the Bush administration. Lynne Cheney, the wife of the Vice President, is a former member of L-M’s Board.
Lockheed Martin is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, but because it has facilities in all 50 states, it has a “big political footprint.” L-M curries favor by contributing to political campaigns at every level. It gave more than $2.2 million in political donations in 2002.
Former Lockheed Martin vice-president Bruce Jackson chairs the Coalition for the Liberation of Iraq.
I wonder if this techguy is honestly trusting of this type of report. Ducko

The World Life Institute 1529 Fuller Rd. Waterport N.Y. is one of at least three facilities established by Dr Asaf Durakovic a Muslim from Croatia in the County of Orleans In upstate N.Y. These facilities are all located less than a mile from our shoreline in a remote and rural location on our border with Canada. These facilities were established to aid Terrorist in entering the United States using boats to cross Lake Ontario from Port Hope Ontario and Toronto Ontario Canada where he has similar facilities. Myself and many others have witnessed boats containing Middle Eastern Young Men, with Caucasian men at the helm. They are entering Johnson Creek and are being harbored in facilities on Johnson Creek in the Hamlet of Kuckville. Dr Asaf Durakovic has also established the Lakeview Medical Clinic in Waterport N.Y. which is supposedly used for Uranium testing. Doctor Asaf Durakovic is NOT a member of the AMA or the American College Of Physicians as he states in his bio and resume. His interest Uranium testing is a cover for these Gateways which are being established all along the Great Lakes shoreline to aid Terrorist in illegal entry into the United States. I have worked in this County on Lake Ontario traveling the rural roads and I have personally witnessed young Middle Eastern men acting very unusual with a great deal of paranoia. Dr Asaf has not realized Americans are intelligent and we see through all his rhetoric and lies. He is a devout Anti-American with threatening statements to our Country, all of which can be found on the Internet. Dr Asaf claims to be working for Guthrie Health in Sayre PA. His bio states his association with Strong Hospital Rochester N.Y. Georgetown University Hospital, Toronto General Hospital and the Veterans Medical Center in Buffalo N.Y. After contacting these Hospitals they have stated no knowledge of this Charlton. I suggest everyone research this character and his Muslim Center, Mosque and Medical facility in Waterport N.Y. All residents along the Great Lakes shoreline have been advised of this National Security breech. American will not tolerate IslamoFacists are we will defend this nation to the end. It is time for all Americans to realize the situation with our borders, Durakovic certainly has. Durakovic has taken advantage of our Great Nation, with the intent to overthrowing our way of life. . The minuteman Project is now in the process of establishing themselves all along the Great Lakes shoreline, as well as Americans For KT. These groups will be active night a day working to apprehend these criminals which are being guided by Asaf Durakovic and with guidance from Iran and Syria. Many speculate he is indeed building Uranium bombs which he and others intends to detonate in the United States.

Everyone knows that Bush lied about WMD in Iraq to drag us into a war.
Why should I believe anything he or his government says?
In fact, why should I believe anything this government has said for the past fifty years?
They have lied repeatedly. Now, somebody comes along and tells me they've been lying about DU.
I'd sooner believe a Martian with two heads and green skin than I would this government!
Try googling Tedd Weyman, Leuren Moret, Bob Nichols, Doug Rokke, Asaf Durakovic, Chris Busby or Dai Williams to find out the TRUTH about uranium weapons that are poisoning the air we all breathe in FOR ALL TIME TO COME.
The men who run the Pentagon and the fascist conspiracy that rule this country are the worst psychopathic liars and psychotics in human history. They have written a death sentence for ALL LIFE ON THIS PLANET!

Subject: Evidence: DU causes cancer, leukemia, birth defects
People don't seem to believe the dangers of DU until they become ill from it themselves or know someone who does. After a friend's young husband, stationed in Iraq, died suddenly of Leukemia, I did some research in the hopes that it could save the lives of other military personnel and millions of innocent civilians.

Approximately 436,000 US ground troops were exposed to DU during the 1991 Gulf War, and more than 10,000 of these brave men and women have died as a direct result of their exposure. Over 250,000 more of them are currently seeking medical treatment from the Department of Veterans Affairs for DU-related illnesses including: leukemia, lung cancer, chronic kidney disorders, liver cancer, bone cancer, respiratory ailments, chronic fatigue, skin spotting, joint pain, and testicular cancer. http://ratical.com/ratville/CAH/ltr2soldiers.html

Since 1990, the incidence of leukemia in Iraq has grown by more than 600 percent. Iraqi physicians have been reporting sharp increases in cancers such as lymphomas and leukemia in Iraq, as well as an increase in birth defects.
Gulf War veterans, plagued by a variety of illnesses, have been found to have traces of uranium in their blood, feces, urine and semen. The U.S. Defense Department doesn't want to admit that DU is harmful because they don't want the liability. When the U.S.’s NATO allies demanded that the U.S. disclose the chemical and metallic properties of its munitions, the Pentagon refused. It has also refused to order the testing of U.S. soldiers. http://baltimorechronicle.com/duranium_dec01.html

As of July 1999, of the 579,000 American veterans who participated in the Gulf War, 251,000 (43%) were seeking medical treatment from the Department of Veterans Affairs. About 182,000 (31%) were seeking compensation for medical disabilities or damage related to illness or injury. The illnesses for which claims are being filed include leukemia, lung cancer, chronic kidney and liver disorders, respiratory ailments, chronic fatigue, skin spotting, and joint pain. DU burns on impact, dispersing minute radioactive particles into the air. This radiation, in combination with high chemical toxicity, contaminates the environment and produces harmful effects in animals and humans.

Depleted uranium in the semen of the soldiers internally contaminated their wives. In a US Government study on post-Gulf War babies born to veterans, babies were born without eyes, ears, had missing organs, fused fingers, thyroid or other malfunctions.

Described as the Trojan Horse of nuclear war, depleted uranium is the weapon that keeps killing. The half-life of Uranium-238 is 4.5 billion years. There is no way to turn it off, and there is no way to clean it up. It meets the US Government’s own definition of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Particles remain suspended in air and travel around the earth as a radioactive component of atmospheric dust, contaminating the environment, indiscriminately killing, maiming and causing disease in all living things.

Four reasons why using depleted uranium weapons violates the UN Convention on Human Rights:
– Weapons must not continue to act after the battle is over.
– Weapons must not be unduly harmful to the environment.
– Weapons must not act off of the battlefield.
– Weapons must not kill or wound inhumanly.
Because of mysterious illnesses and post-war birth defects reported among Gulf War veterans and civilians in southern Iraq, and radiation related illnesses in UN Peacekeepers serving in Yugoslavia, growing concerns about radiation effects and environmental damage has stirred up international outrage about the use of radioactive weapons by the US after 1991. At the 2003 meeting of parties to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, discussing the U.S. desire to maintain its nuclear weapons stockpile, the Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi AKIBA stated,
"It is incumbent upon the rest of the world ... to stand up now and tell all of our military leaders that we refuse to be threatened or protected by nuclear weapons. We refuse to live in a world of continually recycled fear and hatred".
It is up to the citizens of the world to stop the depleted uranium wars, and future nuclear wars, causing irreversible devastation.

Leukemia, congenital defects - 430,000 US troops in contaminated areas
During the Gulf War in 1991, US and UK forces used a new weapon against Iraq. This new weapon, the depleted uranium (DU) projectile, is radioactive. Unlike atomic or hydrogen bombs, it involves no nuclear fusion or fission, but nine years after the end of the war, adverse health effects from DU exposure continue to manifest among military personnel and civilians in Iraq where the fighting took place, and among US and British veterans and their families. As I traveled through the US, UK, and Iraq to cover this story, I was confronted at every turn by the sad and frightening spectre of "discounted casualties,"- people exposed to depleted uranium and other toxic substances, and now tormented by leukemia and a whole array of chronic disorders. http://www.chugoku-np.co.jp/abom/uran/special/index.html

Sunday Herald (Scotland), Jan. 7, 2001 - Leaked documents back cover-up claim - The Pentagon scientist who briefed Britain and America on the lethal health risks to Western troops of using depleted-uranium (DU) shells claims he warned the allied powers as far back as 1991 that the explosives could cause cancer, mental illness and birth defects. Professor Doug Rokke, ex- director of the Pentagon's Depleted-Uranium Project, says the USA and UK have covered up the hazards, despite the rising death toll among allied troops who fought in the Gulf from illnesses linked to DU exposure, including Gulf War syndrome.

LONDON, July 31, 1999 -- (Reuters) - Depleted uranium shells leave a legacy of birth defects and death, scientists told a conference in London Friday, warning that the radioactive ammunition will cause the same health problems in Kosovo as it has in Iraq.
recently died of leukemia.
===
ROME, Dec 30, 2000 -- (AFP) - An Italian soldier who served as a peacekeeper in Bosnia has died of leukemia linked to radiation exposure from depleted uranium arms, according to the latest edition of the Italian gendarmes' newspaper.
Several cases of leukemia have been recorded amongst Dutch veterans of the Balkans.
===

A Must Watch Video
Poison DUst tells the story of young soldiers who thought they came home safely from the war, but didn't. Of a veteran's young daughter whose birth defect is strikingly similar to birth defects suffered by many Iraqi children. - Every American who cares about our troops should watch this film. Everyone who cares about the innocent civilians who live in the countries where these weapons are used should watch this film.

Depleted Uranium is indeed chemically toxic, to the degree you can manage to expose anyone to it. For instance, some of the surface of a DU projectile will ablate and vaporize as it passes through a tank's armor. Occupants of the punctured tank could potentially breathe a very unhealthy quantity of the stuff. Said occupants are, however, typically already emphatically dead.
If you're a worker who routinely handles DU (a machinist for example), its toxic nature, flammability, etc., are genuine concerns.
Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for Depleted Uranium:
http://www2.itap.purdue.edu/MSDS/docs/10222.pdf
While the exposed "raw" surface of DU does readily oxidize, and finely divided shavings or particles can burn; a hunk of the metal of any size is, for practical purposes, quite inert.
DU is insufficently radioactive to pose any credible threat of radiation poisoning, unless in prolonged and direct contact with living tissues, particularly when directly breathed or ingested. Skin contact is not seriously dangerous but is ill advised (see MSDS). Major internal exposure is generally difficult to accomplish except under circumstances such as the aforementioned tank scenario.
So a few prudent cautions are in order: Don't breathe inside any enclosed spaces that may have just been penetrated by a DU projectile; and if you find a chunk of DU lying around, don't eat it. If you handle it, wash your hands.
How likely are you to ever find a spent DU projectile? Not very likely, even when you're deliberately looking for one and know more or less where to look. They're so penetrative that they commonly wind up deep inside something solid, most often the ground.
Pertinent to concerns of environmental contamination in general is the fact that uranium is found in significant amounts practically EVERYWHERE in the natural environment; in soils, in rocks, in water. It exists in most rocks in concentrations of ~3ppm, and in seawater in nearly enough quantity to make extraction economically feasible.
The only remarkable aspect of this film is that some people will actually believe its falsehoods and give credence to its warped emphases, as evidenced by some of the 'reviews' we see here.
Many can be forgiven, as they may lack any genuine information on the subject. But the political biases of the 'believers' here are obviously a major factor.
The truth is, no amount of political conviction, no matter how laudable or heartfelt, can possibly justify deliberate misinformation.

This is absolute garbage. It's completely unsubstantiated and there is no science whatsoever in regards to this.
You don't like the war in Iraq? You think Bush lied? You believe he is a criminal? Fine. Those are all valid viewpoints.
However, they do not effect whether or not Depleted Uranium is causing major health problems. It's not. If it does, then we have to throw out all the current scientific knowledge in the field of toxicity.
Depleted Uranium poses no major radiation concern. It is only mildly radioactive. You can hold it in your bare hand (and I personally have). You can buy it without a license.
It is *toxic,* though. Which is why you should not eat it. It is a toxic heavy metal. In the same way LEAD is a toxic heavy metal. If you eat lead, then that's bad. If you use lead in your car battery, for making bullets, for soldering electronics and numerous other things, that's OK!
Conclusion: Don't eat depleted uranium. Don't throw massive amounts of it into a drinking well. If there's some spent DU rounds on the ground, don't worry about them! They're no worse than lead bullets.
Oh yeah and Dr. Helen Caldicot is a very well known mega-psyco who's entire career is spent trying to badmouth all things nuclear. Not just nuclear weapons, but nuclear research, nuclear energy, even nuclear medicine and cancer treatments. She left the medical practice to spend all her time campaigning against this crap. No she is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, because there's no such thing as a nomination. She's not even a trained radiation safety expert.

These are answers from professionals who are actually well versed in radiation safety, environmental hazards and toxicity.

Ive been researching DU for years. And yes, its very bad stuff. This movie just touches on it, but perhaps will motivate viewers to do the research and talk to people who have been exposed to it.

This is unscientific hokum.
The truth is that depleted uranium (DU) does not significantly add to the natural background levels of damaging radiation. It is chemically toxic, but the amount of it added to the environment through its use in weapons and armor is not a major concern.

Snowshoefilms (the producer of this hokum), says that DU is "infecting" women through sexual contact. Well, any scientist will tell you that such silliness doesn't even pass the laugh test. Good grief, DU is not a disease, and it isn't communicable. These lefties are too clueless or careless even to make their fabrications plausible.
They have another video out, in which a little old lady ("Ph.D., biometrics") solomnly tells viewers that airplanes couldn't have destroyed the WTC towers on 9/11/2001 because jet fuel couldn't have caused a fire hot enough to "melt steel," that if the WTD fires didn't get to 2000C they couldn't have caused the buildings to collapse because the steel couldn't have melted (actually, structural steel typically softens at about 800C and melts at about 1400C), that an airplane didn't hit the Pentagon, and that blaming Al-Qaeda so soon for the attack was "like a lynching of the local black person in the South."
You think I'm making this up?? See for yourself! http://www.archive.org/details/rbertel. These people need to hop back on Hale-Bop, or whatever they rode in on, and go back homeÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂæ or get back on their meds.
Nor is there any truth to dali777's claim that DU is "an illegal weapon according to UN." In the first place, it is a material (a metal), not a weapon. In the second place, it is not "illegal" according to either international law or the United Nations.
In fact, even mmfrench's claim to have read two of my other reviews is false. He made up even that. He can't possibly have read two of my other reviews, because I've not yet written two other reviews.
So where do these leftists get the nonsensical things they write? The answer is that they just make them up. That's their M.O.: these leftists just make things up.
As author Jerry Pournelle famously observed, "you can prove anything if you make up your data." That's what these guys are doing: just making it up.
These leftists call me "moron" and "brainwashed" and "sheeple." Well, I don't claim to be a genius, but at least I always tell the truth.

brainwashed by the mass media and the government. This work has been ongoing since DU has been used, Dr. Helen Caldicott has documented this type of poisoning in every country we have discharged DU rounds and also with returning soliders childrens birth defects. I've read two other reviews from ncdave, and I think you are a maroon, to quote bugs.

Subject: not dangerous UNTIL..
DU is a fine ingredient for many things until it is fragmented by any type of impact that fragments the metal. Fragments multiply the radiation effects, especially if it is impacted by an explosive. Gulf War syndrome is partly caused by this effect and will not go away until this substance is outlawed.
Fragmented DU also goes through the placenta and can be passed from male to female through sexual contact thus infecting women here in America and newborns.. not to mention those in the middle east facing this problem.. unbelievably it is rumored that Isreal is using this type of munition on Palistinains making the entire middle east a nuclear wastland in the future, with a half life of billions of years, we will be dealing with this for a loong time!
